First off thank you for this article. Man this was a great read and right on time for me. I love all things sports and this article brought to my attention that I’m watching more sports and participating in more sports conversations than actually playing a sport. I think that’s a great point you made, sports are not for entertainment and recently I’ve been using it as an escape as to actually playing.

I think if more people who so called “love sports” made sure they played more than watched, the narratives around all sports would be more positive.

Played American football injuries derailed my career. Trying to find the sweet spot where I can play have fun but no flare ups.

This is great! And I have been talking about this with friends frequently.

I do not understand people obsessing over football and betting but never playing or throwing the ball around… a real problem IMO

Why do I watch Motocross? Because I RIDE motocross. If the race is on Saturday, and the track is open Saturday. You bet your ass I’m heading to ride motos, and I’ll catch what happened on the race when I get home.

People will spend their wholes lives watching others on screens, sadly to miss living their own life!

Voyeurism is the way most people live and then confuse it with their personalities

Participating and competing yourself are non negotiable if you say you ‘love’ sports
