Be comfortable alone
There’s a stark truth about breaking free from limitations and expectations others place on your potential and living life by your own design and values; it’s lonely at the top.
Listen, if you want to be a hero and go on the journey of self discovery, by definition you go alone.
That’s scary. No doubt.
Being an individual by definition puts you outside of the crowd.
You’re going to hear all the time from the doubters, the one’s who’d rather tear you back down to their level, rather than encourage you to keep climbing the mountain towards the top.
You need to develop a strong sense of self-love. That your heart points you towards truth that’s deeper and more valuable than a temporary feeling of fitting in and being ‘accepted’ for something that’s not the real you.
Demanding the best
Self-Love isn’t easy, in fact it’s a lot harder than it sounds.
Love is the hardest emotion, the strongest emotion, the most powerful emotion.
It’s the one that powers all the others, the one that provides courage and resiliency.
When I say “Love Thyself” I mean ‘Subject yourself to the truth and live by it.’
Why are you striking away from the crowd, demanding to live by your own compass and chart your own path towards your potential and destiny? Because you demand MORE.
You’re not satisfied, there’s no meaning, in a life determined by others and spent following. It grinds you down, takes your spirit, and leaves you empty and confused as to where your life went.
You demand your best. And now you’ve got to work for it.
Self-love requires truth. The truth is the scariest thing in the world.
So what does it mean to practice self-love on the way to living life on your terms?
GO FOR IT (Run to Become)
Take risks. Big risks. Bold risks. Calculated of course, but aimed at your dreams.
In order to bring out your potential you need the crucible of CHALLENGE.
One reason you’re sick and tired of living by other’s desires is the lack of challenge that animates your spirit to take risks.
You play it safe, aim at comfort, don’t ‘rock the boat.’
No more.
“The more I ran, the more my physical potential was revealed.” Haruki Murakami
This is why physical challenge is a crucial component of self love.
You need to sacrifice in order to gain, consistent training teaches you how.
A day to day ritual of testing yourself, demanding better, pushing towards limits, breaking through, and then setting new goals to strive for, is a necessary component of any self love that deserves the name.
The more you submit to a training ritual, the more you understand how testing yourself is a proper form of self love. It’s a type of self love aimed at self knowing.
And if we are to find the courage to live by our individual demands, we must also take on the individual responsibility of carrying the load ourselves.
We must submit to the truth and resolves ourselves to live by it.
Training teaches me what’s true about myself.
Training teaches me to love myself properly.
Happy Training Team!
