How to 'philosophically' prepare for a race
An inside look into how the mind leads the body in training
I’ve got a new podcast episode I’m excited to share with you.
I’m running a race in less than two weeks and want to peel back how I crafted my training. Unlike most race preparation strategies, mine starts with a philosophic understanding of the nature of the event and then I build backwards to create a training plan for my mind and body.
Specifically, I use Aristotle as my inspiration, I know that if you aim at the nature of the activity it's full potential opens up to you. When I begin training for any competition I don't start with physical preparedness, I try to uncover that center. Then I aim the physical training towards it.
For the Backyard Ultra that means I've focused on two key ideals that help me prepare for a Last Man Standing Race where we run a 4 1/6th mile loop on the hour every hour.
Fall in Love with Running
Interalize 4 miles
You’ll discover why these were my aims and how I’ve gone about training this way as as I aim to be that last man standing.
If you have a competition or want to sign up for one and use this type of philoshical preparation send me a message using the button below and let’s aim there together.
