Why so adamant about play?
After spending the last 2 weeks solely being Dad it’s more apparent to me than ever before. Adults don’t know how to properly play and it’s making us miserable.
This is especially true when it comes to sports and physical activity.
I decided to unleash my thoughts in the latest episode of the Athletic Philosopher Podcast.
Adults need to play in creative and imaginative ways, not just consumptive and voyeuristic. No where do we see this inverted more than in the world of sports.
The adults sports fan plays by watching, eating, drinking, travelling, and gambling. They don’t compete, train, exercise for fun, or aspire to any type of physical achievement themselves.
I hope this podcast inspires you to get into the arena and rediscover how much fun it is to play sports as an adult with the same zest for life as a child.
