I had a thought while running through the woods
It’s not enough to just post the Strava results
Nor to talk about pace and progression
You can move your body in a beautiful way
But without a way to share does it just get lost
Can you share a feeling?
Can you bring someone into a moment of joyful exertion?
Can you make someone a believer in what you believe in through the right words?
Can you turn a trail run into a poem?
I think I’m doing just that
When the warm sun breaks through the branches and leaves, it creates a strobe affect in your eyes
The motion becomes a movie
You’re inside of something you’re actively creating
Pick up the pace, double step, get around that root sticking out waiting to grab your ankle
Notice the sound of the birds discussing how well you’re moving through the woods
Like you belong there, you’re part home part adventure
SLIP, faceplant, mud everywhere
Smile grows wider from the fun of getting messy
Battle scars acquired, time to head for home
But aren’t I already there?
Triple pace, burn the rest of my gas, leave it all out there
Run through the line, the one in the dirt you created out of pure imagination
Live out what you believe, in intentional action
That makes your spirit CRY FOR MORE
Trail running is life
And it’s beautiful
Grateful
I love how that you are romantic about training!
